Scissor Doctor has experience sharpening many brands so if you have a Mizutani, Shark Fin, Above, Utsumi or Joewell you can rest assured that we can sharpen it properly!
Our process for sharpening is consistent and methodical, and we follow the same process every time:
-
First your shears get inspected for the following:
- Initial cut test (if its sharp I will not sharpen them)
- Tip Alignment
- Blade Nicks
- Proper Convex or Bevel angle
- Handle alignment
- Bumper condition
-
Once we take the shears apart, we inspect the following:
- Blade set
- Ride and Ride Line
- Pivot Screw Assembly
- Pivot Washer
- Clicker Plate
- Thumb Screw
-
Then we start the sharpening/ repair process and correct all the above items per the assessment:
- Set the blades as needed
- Sharpen and convex blades or bevel depending on the design of the shears
- Recondition the ride-line through a multi-step hand water stone process
- Clean and replace any parts if needed
- Final assembly and handle adjustment
- Cut test
